Cat6 Plenum CMP 1000ft Ethernet Cable Green — Technical Overview
Looking for a code-compliant high-bandwidth plenum network solution? The 52Networks Cat6 Plenum CMP 1000ft Ethernet Cable Green (SKU: 52N-6CMP-GRN) is an indoor commercial-grade unshielded twisted pair (U/UTP) bulk networking cable engineered specifically for environmental air-handling plenum spaces, drop ceilings, and raised subfloors. Constructed with heavy-duty 23 AWG 4-pair solid conductors, a central longitudinal cross-web separator (spline), FEP/low-smoke insulation, and a fire-retardant CMP plenum-rated green outer jacket, it supports 550MHz bandwidth, 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet up to 328ft (100m), and 10GBASE-T (10 Gigabit) up to 180ft (55m). Compliant with NEC Article 800 CMP, NFPA 262, ANSI/TIA-568.2-D, and RoHS standards, it ships in a tangle-free 1000ft Easy Pull Box for rapid multi-cable pulls in offices, schools, hospitals, and government buildings.
Engineered for HVAC Plenum Drop Ceilings, Perimeter Connections & 10G-Ready LANs
When routing structured network cabling above drop-ceiling tiles or underneath raised floors used for HVAC air return, standard PVC riser cables violate commercial fire codes and release toxic black smoke if exposed to flames. Under the National Electrical Code (NEC Article 800) and NFPA 262, environmental air-handling spaces strictly mandate a CMP (Communications Multipurpose Cable, Plenum) rating.
Our Cat6 Plenum CMP 1000ft Ethernet Cable Green satisfies commercial fire marshals and building inspectors with a low-smoke, flame-retardant jacket while providing the TIA-606 green color standard for perimeter network connections, ISP demarcation extensions, and guest Wi-Fi VLANs inside MDF and IDF telecom closets. Core Engineering & Cat6 Plenum Performance Advantages
🔥 CMP Plenum Fire-Safety Jacket
Formulated with a specialized low-smoke, flame-retardant compound rated to NFPA 262 / NEC Article 800 CMP standards—preventing flame spread and toxic smoke generation in HVAC air-return ceilings.
⚡ 550MHz Bandwidth & 10G Support
Swept and tested up to 550MHz—more than double the standard 250MHz Cat6 requirement—supporting 1 Gbps up to 328ft and 10GBASE-T up to 180ft (55m).
🎯 TIA-606 Green Identification Standard
Standard color-coding for network perimeter connections, ISP demarcation drops, and guest VLAN cabling in commercial telecom rooms.
📦 Tangle-Free 1000ft Easy Pull Box
Packaged in a reinforced job-site pull box with a wide payout tube and sequential 2-foot footage markings printed along the jacket for snag-free J-hook and ceiling pulls.
Key Features of Cat6 Plenum CMP 1000ft Ethernet Cable Green
- CMP Plenum Fire Rating: Approved for installation in commercial air-handling drop ceilings, HVAC return ducts, and backwards-compatible with CMR riser runs.
- Heavy-Duty 23 AWG 4-Pair U/UTP Construction: Larger conductor diameter than Cat5e ensures superior signal integrity and lower attenuation across high-frequency links.
- Internal Longitudinal Separator (Spline): Keeps individual twisted pairs physically separated to prevent internal crosstalk and preserve twist geometry during pulls.
- 550MHz High-Speed Bandwidth: Supports 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (up to 328ft) and 2.5G / 5G / 10GBASE-T high-speed networking (up to 180ft).
- PoE Application Ready: Suitable for powering ceiling Wi-Fi 6/7 access points, VoIP desk phones, and 4K IP surveillance cameras when installed within applicable PoE guidelines.
- Universal Termination Compatibility: Terminates cleanly into standard Cat6 RJ45 Keystone Jacks, Cat6 Patch Panels, and 23 AWG RJ45 pass-through connectors.
- Sequential Footage Markings: Marked every 2 feet along the outer jacket so technicians can measure exact run lengths and track remaining cable in the box.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
A: CMP stands for Communications Multipurpose Cable, Plenum. Under NEC Article 800 and NFPA 262, CMP cable is mandatory whenever network wiring is installed inside environmental air-handling spaces—such as above drop ceilings or under raised floors that serve as HVAC air return ducts. Its jacket is engineered to self-extinguish and emit minimal smoke in the event of a fire.
A: Under TIA-606 commercial cabling standards, green plenum cable is designated for network perimeter connections, ISP demarcation extensions, and guest Wi-Fi VLAN drops.
A: Yes. Under NEC fire hierarchy rules, CMP Plenum is the highest indoor fire rating and can legally substitute for CMR (Riser) or CM general-purpose cable anywhere inside a building.
A: Tested up to 550MHz, it supports 10/100/1000 Mbps (1 Gbps) up to the full 328-foot (100m) channel limit, 2.5G / 5G Ethernet up to 328 feet, and 10 Gbps (10GBASE-T) at distances up to 180 feet (55 meters).
A: Every box contains 1000 feet (305 meters) of green Cat6 CMP plenum cable wound inside a heavy-duty, tangle-free Easy Pull Box with sequential footage markings printed every 2 feet along the jacket.
