Cat6 Outdoor Direct Burial 1000ft Ethernet Cable — Technical Overview
Looking for a weatherproof bulk network cable built to survive underground trenches and exposed building exteriors? The 52Networks Cat6 Outdoor Direct Burial 1000ft Ethernet Cable (SKU: 52N-6OUT-DJ) is an industrial-grade unshielded twisted pair (U/UTP) outdoor networking cable engineered for harsh environmental conditions.
Constructed with heavy-duty 23 AWG 4-pair solid conductors, an internal PE cross-web separator (spline), and a rugged Double UV-Resistant Jacket (LLDPE outer + PVC inner), it shields internal conductors from soil crushing, abrasion, moisture ingress, and solar UV degradation.
Swept and tested up to 550MHz under ANSI/TIA-568.2-D standards, it supports full 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet up to 328ft (100m) and 10GBASE-T (10 Gigabit) up to 180ft (55m). It ships wound on a heavy-duty 1000ft wooden spool for smooth trench and conduit deployment.
Engineered for Direct Underground Burial, Perimeter CCTV & Campus Outbuildings
Standard indoor PVC Ethernet cables rapidly crack, absorb groundwater, and suffer catastrophic signal failure when exposed to direct sunlight, freeze-thaw cycles, or underground soil pressure. For exterior runs under National Electrical Code (NEC Article 800) guidelines, outdoor cables require specialized UV and moisture protection.
Our Cat6 Outdoor Direct Burial 1000ft Ethernet Cable eliminates the expense of running rigid conduit for every outdoor drop. Its dual-layer LLDPE/PVC armor allows low-voltage contractors to bury the cable directly in dirt trenches or staple it along exterior walls, rooftops, and fence lines without jacket deterioration.

Core Engineering & Double-Jacket Outdoor Advantages
🛡️ Dual-Layer LLDPE + PVC Armor
Combines a rugged, waterproof Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) outer jacket with a secondary PVC inner jacket to prevent crushing, abrasion, and rodent/rock damage in trenches.
☀️ UV-Stabilized & Weatherproof
Carbon-black UV-inhibited outer jacket resists cracking, chalking, and brittle failure under years of relentless direct sunlight, rain, snow, and sub-zero temperatures.
⚡ 550MHz Bandwidth & 10G Support
23 AWG solid conductors separated by a rigid center spline deliver 550MHz high-frequency stability—supporting 1 Gbps up to 328ft and 10GBASE-T up to 180ft.
🪵 Heavy-Duty 1000ft Wooden Spool
Supplied on a reinforced job-site wooden reel with 2-foot sequential footage markings printed along the outer jacket for effortless long-distance trench and conduit pulls.
Key Features of Cat6 Outdoor Direct Burial 1000ft Ethernet Cable
- Direct Burial Rated: Engineered to be buried directly in underground trenches or pulled through underground PVC/HDPE conduit without water ingress.
- Double UV Jacket Construction: Two distinct protective layers (Black UV LLDPE outer + PVC inner) provide superior mechanical crush resistance over single-jacket CMX cables.
- Heavy-Duty 23 AWG 4-Pair U/UTP: Thicker 23 AWG solid conductors ensure minimal signal attenuation across long perimeter security runs.
- Internal Longitudinal Separator (Spline): Isolates all 4 twisted pairs to eliminate Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) and preserve twist geometry under high pulling tension.
- 550MHz High-Speed Bandwidth: Supports 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (up to 328ft) and 2.5G / 5G / 10GBASE-T high-speed networking (up to 180ft).
- Outdoor PoE Application Ready: Ideal for powering outdoor 4K PTZ security cameras, license plate readers (LPR), outdoor Wi-Fi 6/7 access points, and wireless point-to-point bridges.
- Universal Termination Compatibility: Terminates cleanly into standard Cat6 RJ45 Keystone Jacks, Cat6 Patch Panels, and 23 AWG RJ45 crimp connectors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
A: A double-jacket outdoor cable pairs a tough, waterproof LLDPE outer shell with a secondary PVC inner jacket. This dual-wall construction provides twice the mechanical crush protection against shifting rocks, soil pressure, and conduit friction without requiring messy water-blocking gel.
A: Yes. Its rugged LLDPE outer jacket is rated for direct underground burial in trenches as well as installation inside underground conduit, along fence lines, or across building exteriors.
A: No! Because it uses a dry dual-jacket (LLDPE + PVC) design rather than petroleum jelly flooding, technicians can strip and punch down the conductors cleanly into standard Cat6 keystones and RJ45 connectors without solvent wipes.
A: Tested up to 550MHz, it supports 10/100/1000 Mbps (1 Gbps) up to the full 328-foot (100m) channel limit, 2.5G / 5G Ethernet up to 328 feet, and 10 Gbps (10GBASE-T) at distances up to 180 feet (55 meters).
A: Unlike indoor pull boxes that can get soggy on outdoor job sites, this 1000-foot (305m) double-jacket outdoor cable comes wound on a heavy-duty wooden spool with sequential footage markings printed every 2 feet.
